The Peavey 1208-8 SPS BWX is a 12" subwoofer that handles frequencies of 500 Hertz or less. It is not recommended to use midrange with this speaker as it can blow the speaker and cause it to sound bad. Although it is a PA speaker that operates at 500 watts, it may not work well with a Peavey Vyper 3 amp or other amps that do not provide enough power. Some users have been able to achieve excellent results using the Peavey 1208-8 SPS BWX as a bass/sub-bass speaker only in custom-made cabinets. However, this speaker is not designed for sub usage, and the 1208-8 model is best suited for midrange frequencies, while the 1201-8 model handles midrange and above. Overall, customers who purchased this speaker were generally happy with its performance, power handling, and clarity. However, some users experienced disappointing results when trying to boost their bass frequencies, and others were disappointed to learn that the speaker was made in China.
