The Juki DDL-5550 is a professional-grade industrial sewing machine that comes with a table, small drawer, thread stand, and a servo motor. Although it is a no-frills machine, it is very durable and produces beautiful straight stitches. It is made in Japan and is preferred by customers over the Chinese-made DDL-8700. The feed dogs can be lowered for free motion quilting but it is not recommended for beginners. The machine can hem even leather and jeans. Customers are advised to use Juki parts for their machines. The machine lacks a needle up or down function and the instruction manual has more diagrams than actual writing. The machine is quiet and fast and can have a broken foot. The machine is great for those who sew for 8 hours a day.
