The H-COME HDMI Ethernet Network Extender Adapter is designed to convert a video/audio signal from an HDMI cable into an ethernet cable, mainly for long runs where simple HDMI cables would be too expensive, bulky or impractical. Generally, it works as follows: the video source is sent to the transmitter adapter through an HDMI cable. The adapter converts the signal into an ethernet cable with a range of up to 100ft, which is connected to the receiver adapter that converts the signal back into HDMI, outputting it to the video display. It is an excellent solution to send a duplicate of a computer system out through walls to a TV in another room. However, it has a shortcoming in that it does not work well when connecting a laptop or work as a CEC device for receiving and carrying audio signals only. It is also unsuitable for passing ARC signals between a receiver and monitor. This product has mixed reviews, with some users complaining about video quality, intermittent output, and the converters getting hot and emitting a burning smell.
